SpLD — Specific Learning Difficulty

Types of Need

An umbrella term covering specific difficulties that affect one or more aspects of learning — including dyslexia (reading and writing), dyscalculia (maths), dyspraxia/DCD (co-ordination) and dysgraphia (handwriting). Children with SpLD often have average or above-average intelligence but significant difficulties in specific areas.
