Keeping the plan honest over time

Every EHC Plan must be reviewed at least once a year, especially at transition points (starting school, moving to secondary, post-16).

Your rights: The council must notify you of its decision within 4 weeks and amend the plan within 8 weeks if changes are agreed.

Common pitfall: A review that just confirms 'no changes needed' without real discussion can be challenged if your child's needs have clearly moved on.

Your voice: A review meeting is a discussion, not a sign-off. Your written report, submitted in advance, sets the agenda just as much as the school's.
